Charles Phillips

Charles joined The Rich Company in 1984 as a sales associate.  After approximately 5 years of general brokerage work with The Rich Company, Charles developed an interest in commercial and industrial brokerage and leasing.  This interest eventually led to commercial and industrial real estate site selection for several major companies, commercial development and build to suit projects throughout eastern North Carolina and Virginia. He also served as Sales Manager and General Manager overseeing the growth of the Company from one office to three offices and from 3 agents to 26 agents.

Charles is extremely knowledgeable in commercial and industrial sales and acquisitions, leasing and tax deferred exchanges.  He has led the commercial real estate department of The Rich Company for many years and while he has somewhat relaxed his daily involvement he is still involved in commercial brokerage and development work.

Charles and his wife reside in Washington and have two children and two grandchildren.  He is a past Director, Vice President and President of the Washington-Beaufort County Board of Realtors and is a past recipient of the “Realtor of the Year” Award.  He has also served on the local Salvation Army Advisory Board, the City of Washington Board of Adjustments, the City of Washington Storm Water Management Committee and the Vestry of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.  In addition, he has also served on the local Advisory Board of The East Carolina Bank and its successors VantageSouth Bank and Yadkin Bank.

In 2008, Charles was named Co-Business Leader of the Year by the Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce and also received an Award for Building a Better Beaufort County for the total renovation and lease up of the vacant former K-mart Shopping Center in Washington.
